FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. Does Quintilian follow the Ontario curriculum?

A. It is Quintilian's mission to meet the learning needs of every student. Our programming is guided by the Ontario curriculum, however students are not rushed through curriculum in order to fulfill grade level expectations.

Q. Does my child need a diagnosis to attend Quintilian?

A. NO. Quintilian offers quality, individual programming for all students regardless of a diagnosis. Quintilian also welcomes students who have been diagnosed with learning disabilities, non-verbal learning disabilities, anxiety disorders, autism spectrum disorders and adhd.

Q. Is Quintilian a school for children with behaviour disorders?

A. Often a student's frustration with school work and learning may be displayed through outward negative behaviour. When students are appropriately challenged and given support and learning opportunities in our positive and safe environment it is typical for negative behaviour to diminish. All students must undergo a three month evaluation period to ensure that they can function within our program and display the expected behaviour. In the event that Quintilian cannot meet a child's special needs, we will be happy to recommend other schools and educators better suited to that child's situation.

Q: Is it a good idea to place children in an environment where children have learning challenges? Will my child feel that there is something "wrong" with him/her?

A. Often children with learning differences are bullied or isolated because of their challenge. We have found the opposite occurs at Quintilian which is designed for their specifics needs. No one is different! The emphasis is on strengths - not on difficulties. For many children it is the first time they feel like they belong.
